Just to let you know that the system is now running normally
This issue was caused by some slow running queries which affected our database. This normally would not cause an issue, but combined with duplicate entry errors caused around 25% of our services to be affected.

The system is now running as normal.
This issue was caused by an automatic overnight maintenance task that tunes the database servers. This over-ran and caused high load on the database servers, causing iaptus to fail for several services.
We have disabled the automated task from running again until the issue has been looked into.
